The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra presented a special Beethoven performance under the baton of Isaac Karabtchevsky. (…) In the symphony, Karabtchevsky graceful stick and concentrated, focused field invoked the general piano (this music is 90 percent piano) and projected a fine melos which let the sections fuse and flow naturally one into the other. (…) Karabtchevsky conceived the flow of cantabile melody superbly. He showed the sustained line and flow of the pulse in the breadth of his stick and the clean releases in the point, breaking out into the tiniest of subdivisions to help define the changing pulse.
